Smart Governance: Solutions for Today's Global Economy
As the global economy recovers from the sharpest downturn since the Great Depression, new institutional solutions are needed to deliver jobs, growth, and financial stability. In the GEG 10th Anniversary Annual Lecture, Dr Nemat 'Minouche' Shafik, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, will discuss how smart governance can help us create a more resilient, more prosperous and more equitable global economy.
Nemat Shafik assumed the position of Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund on April 11, 2011. A national of Egypt, the U.K., and the U.S., Ms Shafik was previously the youngest-ever Vice President at the World Bank and the Permanent Secretary of the U.K. Department for International Development (DFID).
This event is a Global Economic Governance Programme event co-hosted with the Blavatnik School of Government and in association with the Programme on the Political Economy of Financial Markets (PEFM), St Antony's College.
