Join us for a ground-breaking event that will foster the exchange of ideas and good practices across multiple sectors on a topic that is critical to advancing justice around the world.

The Blavatnik School is pleased to confirm its involvement in an important new event which we hope will be of interest to friends, supporters and potential students of the School.

There is an increasing demand on behalf of the world’s poor and dispossessed for greater transparency, accountability, and better governance in international development. This seminar addresses the governance and accountability of social sector organisations themselves, probing how they can enhance responsiveness and accountability to their clients. Many have been experimenting with new ways to organise themselves. Others have been challenged to be more responsive and accountable to their clients.

The goals of the annual seminar are:

  • to synthesise the fragmented ideas of governance that are frequently propounded
  • to improve governance, and, thereby, social outcomes by integrating academic research with social and private sector perspectives
  • to formulate a standard for governance in international development
