The Government Outcomes Lab is looking to engage a Communications and Engagement Assistant to support the planning and delivery of the Social Outcomes Conference 2024 (SOC24), our annual conference.
The role
This is a varied and dynamic role that will give you the opportunity to work closely with leading researchers, government officials and other public policy experts from around the world, and to gain practical insight into bridging the research-practice divide.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team passionate about improving public policy and the use of evidence in policy decision-making and implementation, and be based at the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford.
Duties will include:
- Liaising with speakers and delegates
- Preparing conference materials
- Handling conference communications
- Producing and editing web content related to the conference
- Participating in the conference itself in early September
- You may also assist with other communications and stakeholder engagement activities more generally
This summer internship will be a 12-week casual engagement, from 1 July to 20 September 2024, on a full-time basis (36.5 hours per week).
Payment will be at Grade 4.1: £13.24 per hour, plus hourly holiday pay (12.07%).
You must be based and have the right to work in the UK.
Selection criteria
We are looking for someone organised and resourceful, with excellent attention to detail, who is sociable and enjoys working in a fast-paced way. The role would suit someone who is a natural networker, comfortable engaging with stakeholders across various levels of seniority and professional backgrounds.
- You will be judged against your ability to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Hold a relevant first degree (e.g. a social science discipline)
- Passionate about working with government to improve public services and deliver better social outcomes
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
