Emily Jones and other representatives of the Global Economic Governance Programme (GEG) attended the biennial African Studies Association UK Conference.

The conference took place in Birmingham on 11-13 September 2018 and the group consisted of researchers from GEG's flagship research programme ‘Developing Countries Navigating Global Banking Standards’.

Florence Dafe and Rebecca Engebretsen organised two panels examining the political economy of financial development in Africa. Colleagues presented papers on the politics of banking in Tanzania, Kenya, and Angola, and on the adoption of a financial inclusion agenda in Kenya and Nigeria.
