Tomoya is from Yokohama, and currently lives in Tokyo, Japan. He is a defence official at Japan Ministry of Defence. A passionate security practitioner with five-years' experience in areas such as strategy, defence planning, training and intelligence, Tomoya's objective is to contribute to the maintenance of peace in the Asia-Pacific region by implementing defence policies.

Tomoya received a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Tokyo and studied abroad at the American University for one year. His undergraduate education both in Tokyo and Washington D.C. deepened his interest in national security. Tomoya and his wife are expecting their first baby this summer. In his free time, Tomoya loves working out and reading books.
