Avinash is from Hyderabad, India, and undertook his undergraduate studies at at BITS Pilani Goa. He then joined a five member social enterprise called SocialCops, which helped governments make better decisions using data primarily in welfare scheme proliferation. Avinash built an edtech company, Thinkerbell Labs, which designed the world's first Braille literacy device, Annie, nominated as TIME Magazine's Invention of the Year in Accessibility, 2022. Avinash worked with an NGO, Janwaar Castle, that used skateboarding to break gender and caste barriers, was a member of the Dalai Lama Fellowship, Acumen India Fellowship, and Policy in Action Fellowship.
Avinash has a Graduate Certification in Public Policy, and a Micromasters in Data, Economics, and Development Policy. He completed his MBA from Saïd Business School as a Skoll Scholar in 2023. His key policy interests currently are emerging tech policy, AI governance in livelihoods and education.
