Arata served at the Japan Meteorological Agency for eight years where he worked on the budgeting of next-generation meteorological satellites of Japan. He also promoted the digital transformation of industries using weather data.
Arata's policy interests focus on methods to harness digital innovations and empower stakeholders to protect lives and properties from natural disasters fuelled by climate change.
Arata holds a BSc in Meteorology from the Meteorological College of the Japan Meteorological Agency. His research centered on the numerical prediction of geomagnetically induced current, which has the potential to cause significant disruptions for civilization.
Arata is a Japanese Government Scholar.
