Arata Takio worked as a Scientific Officer for the Japan Meteorological Agency, mainly focused on public-private engagement to enhance climate change adaptation. 

His policy interest is empowering stakeholders, especially tech companies, to participate in disaster risk reduction and harnessing digital innovations to save people's lives and property.

Arata also volunteered for the Advanced IT Consortium in Tokyo as a lecturer on methods of handling weather data. His undergraduate degree is in Meteorology from the Meteorological College of the Japan Meteorological Agency. 

Arata is a Japanese Government Long-Term Fellowship Program Scholar.
