A talk with Mr Sergio Jaramillo Caro, High Commissioner for Peace and main negotiator at the Havana Peace Negotiations between the FARC-EP and the Colombian Government. Co-chaired by Professor Leigh Payne, Director, Latin American Centre and Professor Monica Duffy Toft, Professor of Government and Public Policy.

The session will discuss the current status and prospects of the peace negotiations. Mr Jaramillo Caro will give a first-hand account of the negotiation and will reflect on the dilemmas of peace-making and peace-building in the Colombian context.

This event is co-hosted by Blavatnik School of Government and the Latin American Centre and is open to the public. Registration is now closed.

Brief Biography

Sergio Jaramillo Caro is High Commissioner for Peace, Colombian Government. He was responsible for the secret meetings that led to the signing of the framework agreement “Acuerdo General para la Terminacion del Conflicto” between the government and the FARC-EP guerrilla in August of 2012, and is now a key part of the government delegation involved in the current talks in Havana, Cuba.
