We’re excited to say that today students, faculty and staff of the Blavatnik School of Government moved into our new home on the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.

Our 117 Master of Public Policy students and 9 DPhil students from all around the world, plus faculty and staff, gathered in front of the building’s main door this morning, where they were welcomed by our Dean Ngaire Woods and accompanied into the new building.

As Ngaire said during her speech, these beautiful new premises, designed to be open and engaging, will be essential in helping the School’s mission of inspiring and supporting better government around the world.

Besides providing an exceptional environment for study and research, the building will also inspire intellectual exchange and public engagement on important policy issues.

The stunning open forum offers a space for public exhibitions, formal receptions and improvised discussions, while a range of other areas cater for students and faculty needs:

  • 2 lecture theatres (for 160 and 80 people)
  • 4 flexible seminar rooms that can be joined up for up to 200 people
  • 7 research team offices
  • 2 quiet study areas
  • 12 working group and meeting rooms
  • 1 café
  • 1 terrace
  • a range of seated areas for informal meetings

The official opening of the building is planned for Spring 2016, and we will organise opportunities for the public to participate to a variety of open days and public events in the new year. The first open day is scheduled for 30 January 2016 - more details will be on our website in the coming weeks, so please keep coming back or sign up to our mailing list to receive news directly in your inbox.

For now, we hope you enjoy discovering life in the new building through images and news just as much as we enjoy being able to share them.
