We were delighted to welcome over 3,000 visitors to the School last weekend, making us one of the main attractions for this year’s Oxford Open Doors.

The School was the newest addition to the list of venues taking part in the annual event. The initiative, hosted by Oxford Preservation Trust in partnership with Oxford University, celebrates Oxford’s landmarks, businesses and attractions by allowing public to discover the city’s treasures which are hidden behind closed doors.

The heavy rain on Saturday didn’t stop visitors enjoying the views from the outdoor terrace, while those who picked Sunday for their visit were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day, with some even visiting twice. With cameras and phones at hand to capture the beauty of Herzog & de Meuron’s design, visitors were also able to attend short talks about the purpose and mission of the School, and learn details about its design.

With the first ‘public open day’ held earlier this year, the event was much awaited by the public – especially as the building is now shortlisted for the 2016 Stirling Prize. We are already working to provide new opportunities to visit the School, but in the meantime, we would like to remind everyone that we are regularly open for public lectures and events, and that you can sign up to our mailing list for updates.
