Economic growth and equality

How can we build better, stronger and more sustainable societies?

Improved risk management, resilience building and adaptation to change are vital components of growth. We need to identify strategies that work to build better, stronger and more sustainable societies. A key focus of our work is to understand how societies can make effective use of limited public funds or common resources to support growth and improve outcomes at all levels of society. Sometimes our research provides the basis to advise African governments on the management of their natural resources. At other times we might work with the UK government to develop strategies for growth in specific regions of the country. We also conduct a lot of comparative research projects, which lead to the development of practical resources and evidence for the world’s leaders to make better decisions for their societies.
