Indian

I am a lawyer who has practiced banking, finance, microfinance, foreign investment and anti-corruption laws, and engaged in policy and regulatory reform in these areas. Recently, I drafted and helped implement the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, a flagship reform of the present Indian government. I have advised the Reserve Bank of India (India's central bank) on regulations for financial inclusion, bank licenses, consumer protection in finance and SEBI (India's securities regulator) on regulations for social venture funds. Working with India's preeminent law firm, AZB & Partners, I advised banks and foreign investors, and had a strong probono practice, representing microfinance institutions, charities, humanitarian and advocacy organisations. Previously, I worked with India's largest private bank, eventually heading the international banking team. I have published on bankruptcy reform, banking reform, corporate governance, cross-border anti-corruption statutes and gender. My policy interests include corporate accountability, governance reform and inequality.
