I have been an Australian diplomat for over ten years and among my adventures I’ve served in Australian Embassies in Kyiv, Malta, Kabul and Madrid. In 2014-15, I was Political Advisor to the NATO Ambassador to Afghanistan, living and working on a military base in Kabul as part of the ISAF mission. In recent years I've specialized in Civilian-Military engagement, including going out to sea with the US navy in a ‘war game’. I’ve worked on multilateral events such as APEC, CHOGM, the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit, NATO summits and sat on UN panels. Before joining the Foreign Service, I worked with arms control NGOs including the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
I have a PhD in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours in Linguistics. I grew up in a small town in country Queensland but Canberra has been home base for the last ten years
