Blavatnik Scholarships
Scholarship applications for 2012 are now closed .
In addition to the scholarships available for all Oxford graduate students, the Blavatnik School of Government is offering up to three Scholarships for the 2012/13 academic year. The aim of the scholarship is both to reward academic ability and to open opportunities that would not otherwise be available to the candidate.
Applicants are advised to also check their eligibility for the Chevening-Weidenfeld Scholarships, the Kwok Scholarships, (both of which are specific to the MPP) and the other sources of funding for Oxford graduate applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants to the Master of Public Policy programme are eligible.
Applicants for the scholarship will be required to submit an ‘Application for Scholarship’ of not more than 1,000 words, addressed to the Scholarship Selection Committee, outlining:
- How they believe their intended study at the Blavatnik School will assist in their career development;
- How their intended careers will contribute to the public good in their home countries, or internationally;
- What difference a scholarship would make to their opportunities and career plans. To include a statement, if applicable, as to why they or their family could not fund their studies.
The Application for Scholarship (see attachment below) should be completed and submitted by email to the School, independent to your application for admission to the MPP, and not later than 20 January 2012. Applications will not be accepted after this deadline.
Assessment Criteria
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of candidates’ academic distinction and their proven commitment to public service. Short listed candidates for the scholarship will be interviewed. Interviews will be held online via Skype, or by telephone.
Amount of Award
The Scholarship will provide (where necessary) all tuition and colleges fees, and a stipend to cover living expenses in Oxford, up to a maximum of £47,250. Scholarships may be held in conjunction with other scholarships and awards, though the financial value of the Scholarship will/may be reduced by the same amount as the total value of these other awards.
Level and mode of study
Masters degree, 12 month programme, full-time.
Application Deadline
20 January 2012.
