Challenges of Government Conference

Since 2011, the Challenges of Government Conference has been bringing together a global, multidisciplinary and cross-sector audience to Oxford. From rapid urbanisation to citizen activism, the conference brings together the brightest minds in government, the private sector, and academia to discuss policies, strategies, and ultimately real-world solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges.

Our guiding principle is an understanding that all sectors can learn lessons from each other. At the Challenges of Government Conference leading academics, economists, CEOs, government experts and civil society leaders from around the world sit next to the future leaders currently studying at the School.

In previous years, we've welcomed speakers of the calibre of Ana Brnabić (Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia), Atifete Jahjaga (President of the Republic of Kosovo), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (Finance Minister of Nigeria), Aníbal Gaviria Correa (Mayor of Medellín, Colombia), Louise Arbour (former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights), Mo Ibrahim (Founder, Mo Ibrahim Foundation) and many more.

Hundreds of people have attended the event each year, with videos, blogs and reports reaching many thousands more via the School’s website and social networks.
