MPP Class of 2016 first day

The Blavatnik School is delighted to welcome our new class of Master of Public Policy students for the first time today. This year, we have 124 students from 70 countries and territories across the world, including for the first time Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Lesotho and Saudi Arabia. Their profiles can be browsed on our website, detailing their diverse backgrounds, experience and aspirations. These profiles are a useful tool for anyone who is thinking of applying for an MPP.

The students will be welcomed by the School's Dean Ngaire Woods, and by MPP Course Director Karthik Ramanna. Over today and tomorrow they will receive an overview of the course structure and the ‘five key skills’, and also have the chance to know each other, faculty and staff during breaks and social events.

Tomorrow they will also see our academics in action during a panel debate, titled “Rage Against the Machine: Is the anti-establishment mood justified?”. Next week they will be introduced to the core modules, spend time with their Oxford University colleges and get involved in the Policy Challenge – a two-day intensive module that introduces key issues faced by governments and policy makers.

While we are busy with the new students, we are also ensuring that the previous class finish their year in the best possible way - the MPP Class of 2015 will soon become alumni, and we look forward to seeing them for their final celebration event in November.
