International Organizations Moving Beyond their Mandate

Join us at the book launch for 'Displacement, Development, and Climate Change: International organizations moving beyond their mandates'.

Displacement, Development, and Climate Change: International Organizations Moving Beyond their MandateClimate change is increasing the frequency of natural disasters and undermining development efforts. How are international development and humanitarian organisations adapting to climate change?

In this talk, Nina Hall will look at the responses of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations Development Programme and the International Organization for Migration. She will identify changes in their organisational rhetoric, policy, structure, operations and overall mandate to address climate change. Hall will argue that international bureaucrats can play an important role in mandate expansion, influencing whether and how to expand and lobbying states to endorse this expansion.

This talk is free and open to all. To attend, please register here.
